Leather.

Leather has had a big come back, from leather jackets, to leather shorts, to leather leggings, and to leather skirts. I've quite enjoyed this trend, I think it is the perfect item to mix up an outfit a bit; creating a little "edge". What are your thoughts on it?

P.S. I got no submissions for the NFS giveaway--sad day. :( I guess I'll just give myself the All Saints Apparel, T :-) ha!
Have a brilliant day, world!

A Polka Dot Story.

Last night, I spent my evening with my lovely Mother at the movies--seeing The Iron Lady (which by the way was absolutely fantastic--GO SEE IT!) I found this polka dot skirt thrifting awhile back, and fell in love--had so much fun wearing it out.

(skirt-thrifted, blazer-thrifted, lace top-charlotte russe, booties-thrifted, jewelry-random)

One of my favorite quotes of the movie:
"It used to be about trying to do something, not its about trying to be somebody."
Margaret Thatcher

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Jason Wu for Target.

Exciting. Exciting. Exciting. I love these designer, Target collaborations--this time up, Jason Wu. On February 5th this amazing collection hits stores, and if it is anything like the Missoni craziness, you better get into your Target right away to snatch up an item. Here are some articles from the lookbook--enjoy!

Cannot wait to get my hands on some of this stuff.

Couture Galore.

Couture. My absolute favorite aspect of the fashion industry--it's the ultimate form of creativity and freedom (as well as a heck a lot of work!) that a designer can have. I find it absolutely intriguing the detail, and excellence that goes into couture--it never ceases to amaze me! Karl Lagerfeld had a little fun (as he usually does) and had a "airplane" theme, using the aisle of a plane as a runway--go to Vogue to see the show for yourself!

I want to focus on Elie Saab's collection though, because I simply about died when seeing it. It's absolutely divine in every sense of the word. I love his attention to detail, his color arrangement from neutral to pastel, and I LOVE that he did a wedding gown. Brilliance. What do you think of the collection?

If I was one of the 200 or some couture buyers in the world today, I would definitely be swooping some of these designs up. :)

SNOW.

I woke up to a sprinkling of snow on the ground--it made my heart quite happy :-)

(button up- JCREW, sweater-made in Ireland, boots- LC Lauren Conrad)

There's nothing like a snow day to throw on some boots, and a cozy knit sweater (especially when made in Ireland!)

Hope you're enjoying your Saturday whether in snow, or sun! :-)

NOT FOR SALE. GIVEAWAY!!

In honor of National Human Trafficking Awareness month, I am giving away a t-shirt that All Saints Apparel has designed specifically for the organization ,Not For Sale.

Watch the video below and then read on to see how you can be apart of this giveaway and win an amazing t-shirt! ;)

AllSaints SpitalField + Not For Sale from Not For Sale Campaign on Vimeo.

I absolutely love this video, and the story behind what All Saints Apparel is doing. My greatest dream is to see my beloved fashion industry begin to take notice and see to it that their products are manufactured in moral ways. I know it's going to happen, and the discussion over "where exactly were these articles made?", will be no more. I hope you will use the month of January to shout from the rooftops about the plight of the enslaved around our globe, and continue to do so in the months to follow.

Giveaway Instructions:

In order to enter your name in the giveaway for the amazing t-shirt (pictured below!), simply send me a picture (get creative) of you holding an anti-slavery sign (that you make) and submit it by Friday, January 27th. Submit your pictures, along with your name to,briannageeslin@gmail.com. At the end of the giveaway I will post a blog with all the submissions.

Can't wait to see all the amazing ideas you guys come up with! Thanks for joining me in the fight against slavery :-)

Peace. Love. Joy.

Golden Globes Fashion.

Awards season has officially kicked off, and I couldn't be more happy. They happen to be some of the most exciting events of my year, and I look forward to them annually. From the red carpet fashion (or lack thereof) and seeing your favorite, talented individuals win (Meryl Streep anyone?!), it's the best.

This year, I wasn't that impressed with the red carpet gown choices, but there were a few people who took some risk, and looked amazing doing it. Here are my favorites from the night:

Charlize Theron in Dior Couture

Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann

Jessica Biel in Valentino

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu
(All pictures property of Elle.com)

I think Charlize and Tilda took the most risk this year at the Golden Globes. Their gowns stood out, and I love that they wore their dresses, it didn't wear them. Kate Winslet's dress looks wonderful on her; perfectly displaying her lovely curves. I love Jessica Biel's lace galore, as well as the cut of the gown. Lastly, I love how Michelle Williams wore velvet, the texture of the gown is fabulous, and she of course looks gorgeous in it.

What are your thoughts? Leave a comment with your favorite dress pick of the night. I would love to hear!

P.S. Make sure to vote in the poll at the top of the blog!!! :-)

Peace. Love. Joy.

A little adventure out West......

I spent the past week out West; in Arizona and California (which would make up for my lack of posts...sorry!). It was nice to be with old friends, and visit the city I lived in for 9 months last year. It brought plenty of nostalgic feelings, as well as joy :) Here is a little "photo diary" of the trip! Enjoy!

Now, its back to work and then school in just two weeks :) I am excited for the new semester, as I am getting to take fashion illustration; a huge stretch for me.

Stay tuned for my recount of the Golden Globes dresses. Who wore your favorite gown?

Peace. Love. Joy.
