Street Style Chaos.//

Street Style.
Love it.
Hate it.
It's part of the game these days,
and we just can't deny it.

Do you think it will go away any time soon?
Or has it made a home for the long run?

Celebrating One Another: A Lost Art.//

(Image via Style.com)

Comparison is something that we all deal with from time to time.
Or, at least I have.

I think there is so much freedom in realizing that someone else's
achievement is your achievement too.

If you can celebrate when others reach their dreams and goals,
you too will find great delight in that,
and your dreams and goals being achieved will mean so much more.

Celebrating one another is a lost art.
Buy, boy is it important and valuable...
even today in 2013,
if not more so.

Seeking for Balance.//

(Image via Pinterest)

Balance.
We all seek for balance.
We do it almost perpetually.
Life becomes a giant journey of seeking that balance,
that vitality,
that feeling of wholeness.

I suppose my question is,
are we ever able to truly find balance?
Or do we spend our lives fighting for something we can never achieve?
Maybe, life is found in surrendering the need for balance,
and instead embracing the adventure, and the spontaneity that life tends to bring us.

May The Road Rise Up To Meet You.....//

(Image via: Pinterest)

At the end of the day,
what do I want to be remembered for?

It's easy to get lost in the "normalcy" of humanity,
and forget what we are passionate about,
and what we are living for.

It's nice to remember that what we are "supposed" to do,
isn't what people will remember us for.
They are going to remember us for things
we did that changed lives,
made an impact,
and ultimately changed the world.

It's nice to sit back,
reevaluate life and truly remember what we are living for,
and we want our legacy to be.

Happy St. Patty's Day.

"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains falls soft upon your fields and until
we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Differences.//

(Image Via: Pinterest)

I think it's quite easy to disregard a person simply becuase you might have different views on one or two issues. This is something that frustrates me so much because there are people who are my ultimate heroes in life, and maybe we wouldn't agree on a few details of life, but at the end of the day they remain heroes of mine.

We try so hard to find people in life that agree with us on each and every point,
and in the process miss out on some vitals inspriations & friendships.

Not only will you discover more of the world this way,
but you'll open your eyes to different ways of seeing things.

I don't mean to say that your moral standings should be swayed or changed by another individual,
but are we really that scared of someone changing who we are and what we think?
If we were truly secure in our beliefs, why would this even be an issue?

If I were real with you,
I find this a lot in the political realm.
People have such strong convictions,
which is great,
but they allow it so separate them from relationship with other people,
which is lame in all honesty.

I can love Hillary Clinton,
and think she is a kick butt woman--
of which she most certainly is.
And, in the same way I can disagree with her on certain issues.
Does that mean I wouldn't be out of this world honored to be in the same room with her?
Heck no!
I would be jumping in circles if I got the opportunity to do such a thing.

The point is,
why would I miss out on the greatness of who Hillary Clinton is as a person
because of a couple different views?
Well, I wouldn't.

I think this is the a great lesson for our time--
embrace life,
embrace people.
Be so secure in what you believe that you aren't frightened out of your mind to hear
 an opposing opinion.

We have to become better at relationship.
Better at listening to differences.
If we don't we only end up limiting ourselves to all life has to offer.

(p.s. Hillary Clinton is hands down one of my heroes. And, yes I am a "republican".
Get over it. )

That Great Generation.//

The thing about pursuing justice is that at times the mounting issues of our time can seem overwhelming.
People often find themselves asking, "what can I even do? The issues are so BIG."

It's nice to remind ourselves of the progress we HAVE made,
in a world of negativity being thrown at us all the time.
Yes, there are monstrous issues of our time that demand our attention in order for change to happen in this beautiful world we live in. BUT, there is also time to look back and see how far we've come.
It encourages the heart, and inspires us to keep fighting on until we see the end to the injustices of our time.

What I love most about Bono's TED talk released today,
is that he does just that.
He points us at the amazing facts proving success,
and how far we have come.
And, then he points us to the future, and how we can continue to change lives,
and eventually see these atrocities eradicated.
That is hope, and I love it.

We have come so far, but we have a journey ahead of us as well....
lives are being changed,
and we must fight for more truth, and more justice.

These are exciting times my friend,
carry on in the great fight of love.

"We can't get this done until we really accept that we can get this done."

Finding the Tribe.//

(photo via Pinterest)

I think at the end of the day,
we are just in search of our "tribe";
our people.
We want to be known,
accepted, loved;
in return, we want to know others, accept others, and love others.

There is a deep desire in each one of us to discover that
group of people who we just instantly come alive around.
We want our loves, desires, dreams to be accepted and believed in.
We want to find those people who back us 100%--
those who can share a good belly laugh just for the heck of it,
as well as have deep conversations pertaining to those things buried in our hearts.

I think, at the end of the day, all of our dreams and our ambitions,
are really just the surface of what lies beneath;
our tribe.
Only on the adventurous journey of our dreams coming alive
do we really find our true tribe.

So, set sail for your dreams,
and discover the land mine of beautiful people who have
been waiting for you.

Kate Spade--Women for Women.//

Kate Spade has partnered with one of my favorite organizations,
and brought us a lovely bracelet.....
{25% of sales this month will benefit this great cause.}

Women for Women International is an amazing organization
that helps women in war torn countries rebuild their lives.
You can sponsor a woman from a country of your choice,
and help to see her life dreams realized.
I personally do this and find it to be one of the most rewarding things in the world.

View this video for yourself to take an in-depth look into
Women for Women:

Then head over to Kate Spade & pick up a bracelet,
not only will you be adding to your jewelry collection,
but you'll be supporting something that is impacting women worldwide.

Putting in the Hard Work.//

If there is one thing you should know about me, it's that I am utterly and undeniably obsessed with the generations that went before me. I think about those who were before me in my family line almost daily; its this sweet reminder of what is inside of me and all that I can be in my lifetime. The incredible legacies that those before me left behind drive me on in my dreams and ambitions daily.

Lately, I have been thinking about all the little differences in society from my Grandparents time to my day to day life. Technology alone is something that is booming and has changed culture drastically over time. The other day I got to thinking, how much more previous generations had to work for what they wanted...

I think there is this tendency in my generation, due to the simplicity (errr...more like complications? ;) of life brought on by technology. How easy it is for us to access things, that generations before would have taken years to access. When I think about my Grandparents, I think about how each one worked hard to get where they wanted to be. There was no "easier way"--it was hard work all the way through. And, that was normal to them because that is all they knew.

I wonder though, with all the quick fixes we are handed on a daily basis, have we no idea what hard work really amount to?

Don't get me wrong, I believe there are truly individuals today who work their tails off to see what they envision come to pass. But, I do think that now more than ever we have a choice between the hard way, and the easy way out.

It's not so much the "work" that defines us, but what we learn through the hard labor to get to where we want to be. I look at my Grandmothers and their tenacity and hard work that brought them to achievements that I could only imagine to achieve one day; I see who they are today, and I know those stories they've told me for years about their growing up forged who they became--strong, courageous, kind women.

I don't want to allow the world and its easy options to become defaults for me through my life. I want to put in the hard work, because I realize when I am 90 and telling my grandchildren of my grand life stories, the moments of hard work are going to be what made me precisely who I became.

I want a legacy of adventure, journeys, hard work, and courage to be what comes to define me and all I dare to achieve throughout my life.
