My theory on fashion.

Fashion.

It’s a word that can incite many different views, many different opinions.
It means something so very different to various amounts of people.
Some, naturally jump on the newest “trend” simply because it is what’s popular, and when it comes to clothes that’s all they know to do.
Others see fashion as simply “clothes”; things to put on to cover up our bodies in order to go through our daily journeys that we call life.

To me though, fashion is this way of communicating without speaking.
I can take who I am, my personality, what I love….and put it on my body in “article” form, and then without ever once declaring “who I am”, I have done just that.

Personally, I love sophistication. Classiness I think is the most beautiful thing. I love nice things. I love proper things. It’s just part of who I am. So, in choosing clothes I like to choose things that communicate that to the world. I would say “sophistication” is the epi-center of all things pertaining to fashion in my closet. At the same time though, I love the free, bohemian, beach, surfer chick feel. Which is also part of who I am. So, some days I wake up and that is what I like to communicate to the world around me.

Whether it be sophistication, or a free spirited outfit; they both sum up who I am. Fashion is such an amazing thing, its not worth simply viewing as “clothing”. Figure out who you are, what defines your personality, and have fun expressing it through your clothing. Don’t be conformed to a trend either, that is no fun and it is ultimately is reducing you down to a “replica”, instead of you allowing your amazing, unique self to shine through.

I love this quote from Michael Kors, “Great style means having a point of view, but evolving your look is even more important. Rushing to embrace every trend will leave you fashionable, but not stylish."

Choose to be YOU. Choose to be stylish. See fashion as an outlet to express yourself and more than anything be creative and have fun!

Peace. Love. Joy.
